Music Garden
Grade specific classes that meet the national standards for music education. Through hands-on activities, games, creative projects, instrument exploration and group performances, students gain confidence and develop their musical ear, rhythm, and coordination. Classes focus on developing fundamental musical skills.

Music and movement for toddlers and their caregivers.
An introduction to music using movement based activities and simple songs. Each class will feature a variety of the following activities: echo singing, free movement, rhythm instrument exploration, song tales, pitch exploration, action songs, dancing and moving to the beat.

Register for Music Garden:
Music Theory
Learn music theory from the notes on the staff to key signatures and chord progressions. Testing is required to move from one level to the next. Music Theory is recommended for instrumental students, especially those in piano or school band/orchestra. Students will progress through:

Students will learn the musical alphabet, the notes and elements of the grand staff and basic rhythms using quarter, half, dotted half, whole and beamed eighth notes. Students will also be introduced to intervals, sharps, flats and the major scale pattern.

Students will learn new rhythms including sixteenth, dotted quarter and dotted eighth notes. Ledger lines will be introduced to expand the notes of the grad staff. Melodic and harmonic intervals will be expanded upon to include triads. Students will master all major scales and key signatures along with the Circle of Fifths.

An expansion of the intermediate level with new note groupings, intervals and time signatures. Students will also learn about minor scales. Minor and diminished chords and chord inversions will be added to the repertoire. Students will begin crafting melodies and transposing to new keys.

Students will progress with triads by learning the primary chords and their inversions as well as seventh chords. Students will be able to classify intervals by type and size. Emphasis will be placed on melody creation in both major and minor keys. Four-part harmonic analysis and general voice-leading rules will also be discussed.

Students will add augmented chords to their repertoire. All chords will be able to be inverted to 1st and 2nd inversion. Expand from score analysis to writing in four-parts using proper voice leading rules. Learn the differences between monophonic, homophonic and polyphonic music; musical form; Sonatina analysis; and modes.

Choir and Sight Singing
Group singing class designed to improve sight singing and aural skills through the use of solfege. Basic music theory will also be discussed such as note values, reading the treble clef and scales. Sight singing is recommended for voice students and those in school choir.
$300/8 week session

An introduction to singing technique and basic pitch placement using “The Body Scale” (ear training with movement).Learn basic rhythm using syllables and “pre-reading” pictorial note representation. Grow with movement and story-based activities.

Take it to the next level with standard music notation by learning whole notes to sixteenth notes (including dotted notes and triplets), intervals of seconds to octaves, key signatures, time signatures (4/4, 3/4, 2/4, 2/2, 6/8, 9/8), repeats, dynamics, articulations, and tempo markings. Plus begin singing in two- and three-part harmonies.

The final level in the music theory track. Students will learn to sing in minor (la based and chromatic), chromatic solfege syllables, new time signatures (5/4, 12/8) and new intervals (augmented and diminished).
